The Islamic position
Muslims hold that once the options are laid out, an uncreated Creator is the reasonable answer rather than a leap of faith.
Analysis
Q 52:35-36 sets out a trilemma that maps onto the contingency argument: a contingent thing does not bring itself into being, and an infinite regress of contingent causes does not ground existence. أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ
Were they created by nothing, or were they the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? No — they are not certain.
