The claim being examined
The Qur'an repeatedly points a person outwards — to the sky, the earth, the alternation of night and day — and asks them to think.
The Islamic position
Islam treats reflection on creation as an ordinary path to God, open to anyone, requiring no scholarship.
Analysis
The Qur'an calls the natural world ayat (signs) and invites you to reason from the order you can see. That is the same instinct behind the classical arguments from design and from contingency (from things that did not have to exist). Used well, it opens a conversation about why there is something rather than nothing. Used badly, it turns into a list of supposed scientific predictions — a weaker line of argument that this section deliberately leaves out.
From the Qur'an
إِنَّ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱخْتِلَـٰفِ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَـٰمًۭا وَقُعُودًۭا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَـٰذَا بَـٰطِلًۭا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
inna fī khalqi l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wa-ikh'tilāfi al-layli wal-nahāri laāyātin li-ulī l-albābi alladhīna yadhkurūna l-laha qiyāman waquʿūdan waʿalā junūbihim wayatafakkarūna fī khalqi l-samāwāti wal-arḍi rabbanā mā khalaqta hādhā bāṭilan sub'ḥānaka faqinā ʿadhāba l-nāri
In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for people of understanding.
وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ءَايَـٰتٌۭ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ وَفِىٓ أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
wafī l-arḍi āyātun lil'mūqinīna wafī anfusikum afalā tub'ṣirūna
On the earth are signs for those of certainty, and in yourselves. Will you not then see?
