The claim being examined

Asked for the signs of the Last Hour, the Prophet named barefoot, unclothed herdsmen competing in the construction of tall buildings — and identified them as the Arabs.

The Islamic position

This is the strongest prophecy card in the set, because classical scholars identified the Bedouin as its subject centuries before oil wealth existed.

Analysis

The evidential weight is not in the tower blocks alone — a sceptic can always say a later reader matched the text to the news. It is in the pre-event commentary. An-Nawawi, al-Qurtubi and Ibn Hajar all fixed the referent as the desert Arabs while those Arabs were still destitute, which removes the charge of reading backwards. The prediction also inverts the visible trend: in the seventh century, and for thirteen centuries after, Bedouin poverty was one of the most stable facts about the region.
