3 — Bad religion is not evidence against God
Handle with care. Do not use a disputed ‘100 million killed by atheism’ figure or answer one casualty slogan with another.

A believer's misconduct can refute their integrity without refuting God's existence.
The Islamic position
Islam requires justice even toward opponents and rejects partisan claims without evidence.
Analysis
Dr. Ataie challenges the move from religious crimes to God's non-existence. Consistency matters: Stalinist, Maoist and Khmer Rouge atrocities challenge the promise that removing religion guarantees humane politics, but disputed death totals do not logically prove theism. Mussolini is not a clean example of an atheist ruler; his regime accommodated Catholic institutions through the Lateran Treaty.

وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ عَلَىٰ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا ۚ اعْدِلُوا هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ
Wa-la yajrimannakum shana'anu qawmin 'ala alla ta'dilu. I'dilu huwa aqrabu lil-taqwa.
Do not let hatred of a people lead you away from justice. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.
