Why the churches kept conceding

The claim being examined
Christians often argue that the West's moral collapse is a departure from Christianity. Muslims agree — and then ask why the churches were unable to hold the line.
The Islamic position
Islam's law is anchored in a preserved text and a documented Prophetic practice, and no council or synod has authority to repeal it. That is why Islamic positions on family, modesty and interest have not moved.
Analysis
The record is documentable and worth knowing precisely. The 1930 Lambeth Conference of the Anglican Communion permitted contraception in limited circumstances, the first Christian body to do so; the Catholic Church responded with Casti Connubii (1930) and later Humanae Vitae (1968), holding the historic position. Anglican and mainline Protestant bodies subsequently revised teaching on remarriage after divorce, then on the ordination of women, and from the 2000s onward several — including the Episcopal Church in the United States (2015) and the Church of England's Prayers of Love and Faith (2023) — moved on same-sex relationships, with the Anglican Communion visibly fracturing over it. The sociological explanation is not that Christians are weaker believers. It is structural: where doctrine is settled by living synods and councils, doctrine can be re-settled by them. Islam's sources are fixed — a Qur'an with a stable text and a hadith corpus with a documented chain method — and ijma (scholarly consensus) on a clear ruling is not open to reversal by vote. State this as an observation about structure, never as mockery of Christians who are themselves resisting the same drift.
