Never say the Bible is all fabricated

The claim being examined
The quickest way to lose this conversation is to overstate the charge.
The Islamic position
Say what the Qur'an says: some wrote with their hands, some concealed, and part was forgotten — and be able to show it.
Analysis
The claim "the Bible is corrupted" as commonly delivered is both imprecise and self-defeating. It is imprecise because the Qur'an makes four narrower charges — interpolation, verbal distortion, concealment and loss — and never says the earlier scripture is wholly invented. It is self-defeating because every card in this section quotes the Bible as evidence; a text you have declared worthless cannot then be your witness. It also invites an easy reply, since a Christian can point to thousands of Greek manuscripts and reasonably ask what exactly you claim was changed and when. Q 3:113-114 acknowledges among the People of the Book "an upright community" who recite God's verses in the night and prostrate, which is a striking thing for a supposedly hostile book to say. The disciplined position is therefore: God revealed the Torah and the Injil; what we have now has been added to, edited and partly lost; and the Qur'an is the criterion for sorting one from the other. That is a claim you can defend passage by passage, and it is the claim that this whole section is built to support.

لَيْسُوا سَوَاءً مِّنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ أُمَّةٌ قَائِمَةٌ يَتْلُونَ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ
They are not all the same. Among the People of the Book is an upright community, reciting the verses of God during the night while they prostrate.
