Deuteronomy 33:2 — Sinai, Seir and Paran
Handle with care. Do not present the Sinai/Seir/Paran reading as decisive. Standard Hebrew scholarship reads Deuteronomy 33:2 as theophany poetry about the Exodus, and Paran is placed in the northern Sinai region by most geographers. Offer it as a resonance, and rest your case on stronger ground.
In short
- 1.'The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran' [Deuteronomy 33:2].
- 2.**Sinai** — Egypt/Midian, the revelation to **Moses**.
- 3.**Seir** — the region of Edom in greater Palestine, associated with **Jesus**.
- 4.**Paran** — where Ishmael settled [Genesis 21:21], understood as the Hijaz, the revelation to **Muhammad**.
- 5.The 'ten thousand saints' and a 'fiery law' from his right hand: the conquest of Mecca is reported with ten thousand companions.
The claim being examined
Deuteronomy 33:1-2 is read by Jews and Christians as poetic imagery of God's presence at Sinai.
The Islamic position
Muslims read the three locations as marking three revelations — Moses at Sinai, Jesus at Seir, and the final Prophet at Paran in Arabia.
Analysis
The Qur'an itself swears by the fig and the olive, Mount Sinai and 'this secure city' [95:1-3], a triad the Islamic tradition reads as the lands of the three revelations. The parallel with Deuteronomy 33:2 is what makes the argument attractive. It should be presented as a resonance that Muslims find striking, not as a knock-down proof: Jewish and Christian commentators read the verse as theophany imagery, and Paran's identification with the Hijaz rather than the northern Sinai peninsula is contested.
From the Qur'an

وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ وَطُورِ سِينِينَ وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ

Qur'an 61:6
وَمُبَشِّرًا بِرَسُولٍ يَأْتِي مِن بَعْدِي اسْمُهُ أَحْمَدُ
…and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me whose name is Ahmad.
