Nostradamus: prophecy that only works backwards
Handle with care. Some Muslim speakers cite equally vague hadith. Do not do it after using this argument; you will be caught out.

The claim being examined
Nostradamus is the most famous prophet in Western memory, credited with predicting Hitler, the Kennedys and 9/11.
The Islamic position
His quatrains fail the clarity test completely. They are so ambiguous that fulfilments are only ever identified after the event, never before.
Analysis
The methodological point matters more than the debunking. A prediction has evidential value only if it could have failed — if it rules out possible futures. Nostradamus rules out nothing, so a hit carries no information. This is the standard that Islamic prophecy claims must also meet: a hadith that names an identifiable group, a place, or a numeric window is testable; a vague warning is not, and should not be presented as proof.
