Why the reports can be checked: isnad and mass transmission
Handle with care. Do not claim every hadith is as secure as the Qur'an. Conflating the two tiers is the single most common mistake in this argument.

The claim being examined
A prophecy argument is only as good as the chain that carries it. The obvious objection is that the reports were written down after the events.
The Islamic position
Hadith reach us through named chains of transmitters who were themselves catalogued and criticised, and the Qur'an through mass memorisation alongside a single written archetype.
Analysis
Distinguish two tiers of evidence when arguing prophecy. Q 30:2-4 sits in the Qur'an, whose early textual stability is now supported by non-Muslim academic work on the Uthmanic archetype — that is the strongest tier. The hadith sit in a second tier: rigorously transmitted by pre-modern standards, but a sceptic can still argue for later crystallisation. The answer to that argument is not indignation but the dated commentary tradition, which shows scholars reading the texts in a particular way centuries before the events they are said to describe.
